KDE Community Working Group is looking for a new member

The KDE Community Working Group is crucial to KDE’s open and inviting culture. It’s mission is to maintain an environment in which contributors feel welcome and get their work done comfortably. The Community Working Group is looking for a new person to join it after one of it’s long term team members recently resigned.

The work of the Community Working Group is of immense importance. In a body as large as KDE, conflict is inevitable. Often conflict is simply a result of several parties trying to contribute with the best for KDE in mind and disagreeing on the details. It is an necessary ability to be able to resolve such issues and realise the contributions blocked by it. The KDE Manifesto and the Community Code of Conduct are the guidelines the CWG applies to it’s day to day work.

Valorie Zimmerman of the Community Working Group writes:

Greetings to the KDE community. We, the remaining members of the Community Working Group (CWG), have lost one of our valued members, and find ourselves in need of a new team mate.
More about the CWG and our mandate from the e.V.: http://ev.kde.org/workinggroups/cwg.php .

E.V. membership is not required to be a member of the CWG; what is required is a mix of tact, sensitivity and empathy, to quote Lydia.

Many jobs come to us through the year, from various difficulties people encounter to drawing attention to projects which need some love and care. We’re working to improve structures, communication and
training for our leaders to improve governance across the entire community.

Please write us at community-wg@kde.org if you would like to help out. Please tell us about yourself, and why you think you would be the best candidate to work with the group.

This is a great chance to make a real difference and to influence  the governance of KDE. If you are a KDE contributor and think you have the necessary people skills for the job, please consider applying.
